Our mutton bustin’ contest is held during intermission on both days of the spring rodeo (May 10-11, 2008).
The winner of each day's contest will receive a silver champion belt buckle and the bragging rights for a year that he or she is the Woodlake Lions Club Mutton Bustin Champion.
Rules and Information Young children ride sheep faced forward while holding on to the neck wool of the sheep.
• Contestants must weigh less than 65 lbs. and be between 5 and 8 years of age. Weight and age limits will be strictly enforced. A meeting of all contestants drawn will be held at the Rodeo Grounds at 12 noon each day, Saturday and Sunday prior to the event.
If your child is drawn to compete, a parent (or legal guardian) must sign the registration/release of liability form prior to the contest.
Proof of medical insurance will be required.
Download entry form and send to Woodlake Lions, PO Box 545, Woodlake, CA 93286. You will be notified by phone by May 2nd if your child was drawn. There will be a total of 20 names drawn with 10 for each performance. Special Notice: There will be only 10 sheep per day, if sheep get away that means that your entry may not get a ride in the contest.
Each contestant whose name is drawn will receive a contestant number that must be worn during the competition. Numbers will be given out randomly.
Riders will receive points for their ride by Judges. All decisions are final. In case of a tie, a flip of the coin will decide the winner.
